I just returned from a wonderful week away with my whole family (Michael and our kids, my parents and my sis and her husband). We went UP north to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and camped and explored the great lakes region. I got to put my toes in Lake Michigan, Huron and Superior, got my beach fix fulfilled for a bit and now fully appreciate being back home and able to sleep indoors for a change. I'll be playing catch up for the next few days and uploading a bunch to fill in for the week. Such a great and photogenic place to visit. Can't wait to show you more:).
This rock stack I set up on Whitefish Point beach, which was a phenomenal beach, represents the balance I attempted to create taking the time mostly off of the internet and 365. Sad to say I couldn't stay completely away. Can you believe that campgrounds have wifi?! So glad to be back!
Love this image...hope you brought those rocks home with you...though I suppose it would be fitting to leave them? So glad you had a good time and a break! Very happy you are back and looking forward to your sharing your photos. I know it is a great deal of effort to go through your photos...edit and post and comment on them and tr to catch up with your followers too.
@adamj Well, maybe a couple. You should have seen some of the cool rock stacks on the beaches. Thanks, my friend. Seriously recommend where we vacationed. Maybe not the camping part for you:). Mackinack Island was AMAZING.
Love this and it's a perfect photo for the title. Did you try getting your kids to build these? Mine spent an hour trying to build them a little while ago - easy, cheap entertainment!
haha, lucky you to have a campsite with wifi. I will be camping by the end of this week without internet for two weeks. So strange that we're kinda addicted to the internet these days. Lovely shot, great dof and very calming colors. Fav darling xx
@3sixty5 It's sad a bit, huh? I'm glad I don't have a smart phone. It keeps me a little healthier, I think (though I steal hubbies when I can:). Thanks for the fav, sweet lady!
@thirtysevenways Ironically, it was a pretty quick, spontaneous thing. I just picked up a few flat looking rocks in the area and set it up. It fell a few times, I got it up, took a shot of 5 and then my daughter came over and pretended they were cupcakes and knocked it down. Thanks for the fav, friend!
Fav!
Yeah, when we went to a camping area earlier in the year, it only allowed each device 15 minutes a day - it was refreshing having that time limit and having the rest of the day to relax and spend with the family.
@gailmmeek I limited myself, too. Just checked in a time a day or so for few minutes. It was so nice to have the break, but hard not to post, too. Thanks so much for the kind words and fav!
@darrenboyj Thank you so much, Darren! Really appreciate the fav!
Welcome back Amanda - hope you had a lovely holiday - sounds fab! Such a beautiful image - love the dof! Just can't escape the wifi!!!! I am so behind with commenting at the mo - not enough hours in the day!!! : ) fav
@thirtysevenways I've been a nut. Sorry. I had a week to catch up on and didn't want to get behind with the daily pic either. Sheesh, man:). Thank you, seriously.
Really lovely, Amanda! The colors in the background are perfect. Sounds like a wonderful time...it is always good to stop, every now and then, to check the balance.
I wanted to thank you all so much for your kind comments on my rock stack vacation shot. Getting back is hard to do and we are down to the final few days before the kids go back to school. Furiously getting ready for that and trying to catch up on laundry, etc. Thanks again for your sweet support!
Like the stack.
Another fave from me :)
