Red led the wolf back to her lair. On the way there, she tested him to be sure.
"My what big eyes you have!" she said coquettishly, batting her eyelashes.
"Better to see you with, my dear." he growled under his breath.
She knew then that she had found the right wolf. She felt for the knife again and drew it out of her cloak as soon as she had him off guard, lying down on the bed.
As she went in for the kill she thought of her granny and saw red.
And Red is the last thing that the wolf saw, too, as the knife sliced into his flesh.
The End...or is it?
I've had so much fun with this RRH series (check out the tag to catch up if you missed any) and I was thinking about what I could do next. I need a purer story. I thought that perhaps I could do something with Little Bo Peep, but then realized I might end up with Little Ho Peep;-).
@mzzhope Is this way too over the top with the processing? I had more subtle, but I liked the bloodiness that this conveyed?! Thanks soooooo much for the sweet comments and fav. My man rocks!! Such a good sport and support!
@bobfoto that's it?! Did I waaay overprocess it? I had other things in mind, but this was the best I could do at the time. The wolf would only cooperate so long.
Wonderful shot. It reminds me of a cautionary tale of RRH by James Thurber when RRH lets the wolf have it right between the eyes with a pistol. The moral of the story was: “It is not so easy to fool little girls nowadays as it used to be.”
One afternoon a big wolf waited in a dark forest for a little girl to come along carrying a basket of food to her grandmother. Finally a little girl did come along and she was carrying a basket of food. "Are you carrying that basket to your grandmother?" asked the wolf. The little girl said yes, she was. So the wolf asked her where her grandmother lived and the little girl told him and he disappeared into the wood.
When the little girl opened the door of her grandmother's house she saw that there was somebody in bed with a nightcap and nightgown on. She had approached no nearer than twenty-five feet from the bed when she saw that it was not her grandmother but the wolf, for even in a nightcap a wolf does not look any more like your grandmother than the Metro-Goldwyn lion looks like Calvin Coolidge. So the little girl took an automatic out of her basket and shot the wolf dead.
(Moral: It is not so easy to fool little girls nowadays as it used to be.)
Oh Amanda, what story telling! Think I might have nightmares tonight. Brilliant execution. What a willing hubby you have! (at least I hope HE is your hubby ;-)).
@happysnap Who him? He picked me up on the street, remember. Doesn't matter...he's dead now.;-)!! Oh my. Yes, this wolf is my hubby. He's a great mate to help me out like this. Thanks, friend!
@northy Righto...will do. LOVE love your comments, my friend. Thank you so much. And thanks for noticing the other tag. I liked that one and wondered who would see it:)!!
Yep. Totally agree. And you ended up with the bed, just as I predicted!
While on the one hand I could say what a good sport the wolf is, I think it'd be more à propos to say what a lucky man he is to have such a fun and adventurous wife.
@snaggy Thanks so much for that, my friend. I think that you may need to recheck the fav button, though. That thing can be tricky sometimes. Thanks, Kev. I loved doing this series and I may need to bring Red back again every once in awhile for more shenanigans!:)
Nice legs Red. What a lucky wolf (until he died anyway).
@jsw0109, what makes you think that was the same guy :-)? Actually, I thought about that too (same color boxer briefs as the selfie), but what other color can you pick for a wolf besides black? Brown might work, but the only brown ones I have are the ones that used to be white (many years ago) :-).
love the pov and the contrast in red and black. should i feel sorry for the poor wolf? i kinda prefer the texture off the skin, but i just love the creativity and imagination! you crazy girl! fav
@moreyoulessme I can see that. I was so unsure about the processing. I wanted this one different. I kind of liked the redness. And I did like that the darker textures on the wolf made him appear to be hairy more?! Thanks so much for your great comments and the kind fav! Being crazy is fun. I just came up with a new idea for a series and I can't wait to give it a go!!!
Wow, Amanda! What a great end to this series and fantastic shot and selfie. Love your story as you write so well. This photo is beyond awesome, it is one of your best. Your processing is fantastic. I love it. FAV
i really do hope this isnt one of your neighbours' husbands who made the mistake of giving you a ride home !!!
i suppose 'hoe hoe hoe & a bottle of rum' would be an excuse for pirates planks & general mayhem:o)
Damn, girl, you killed, baaaaaa!
I love your strong stance and the fishnets are a nice touch. I can only imagine the fun of this shoot! Rock on, girl xo!
@amandal Why is it her standing up with the knife, did she ask you not to publish it when you caught her? BTW, I think that you have a heart full of fun, and that takes you in directions like this, but you are challenging your own boundaries when you do. Well, I think that may be the case?!
@seanoneill HA!! Not her, just her flesh and blood. I think the problem was that I put this on Facebook, and that was maybe not the best plan. Thanks, Sean. I do have a heart full of fun and I am so glad that Michael is kind enough to help me out and play along. And yes, I've pushed a lot of boundaries this year. Never would I have expected some of my shots out of me.
@skipt07 I've been doing a whole series on Red Riding Hood. I started with the shot where she was panhandling and holding the sign about the wolf wrecking her life and then ended up here with her getting her revenge on the wolf. My whole series is under the tag rrh above with my tags. Start at the far right and work your way over. I'm a nut. Thanks, Skip.
@bristolrose Thanks so much for your kind comments and fav, my friend!!
@seanoneill Glad to be out of the caves...it's cold today!
@deeganp Thanks so much for the fav and kind words, my friend!! Yes, I am well. How about you all?
@susale Thanks so much for that, Suse. Great comments and appreciate the fav and follow. Following you back!
@roadshow So much fun!!! Thanks so much, Gloria. I appreciate you.
@palmilla Really appreciate your great comments and fav, lady!! Thank you!
@kwind I can not believe what my selfies have become this year. Never would I have guessed. Thanks so much for the encouragement and fav, my friend. I've got to get back to funny again. Maybe one this week!:)
@riverlandphotos@archaeofrog True words, ladies. Maybe I need to come up with something other than fairy tales then. Who knew they could be so much fun!! Thanks, friends!
@gozoinklings Love your comments, lady. I checked under the mask and I had the right man:)! My man, that is!! Fun comments! Thank you!
@roseolivia Love that. I don't see how I can keep her away forever now. Maybe she will go out looking for other wolves or maybe now she can lead a normal life, but that might make for boring shots;-). Thanks so much for your fav and sweet comments!
@darsphotos Love your great comments, my friend. Thanks so much for them and the fav. I've really had fun with my selfies this year and pushed my comfort zone, but in a good way, I hope. So fun to have hubby participate a bunch this time around, too!
@eyesmile Gotta love a willing wolf. Thanks so much, my friend. I appreciate you!
@mikeable Love your comments, Mike! Thanks!! And thanks for being a rocking other half to this photo. Shame you had to die.;-)
@summerfield I think you are right. How can she stay away forever? Perhaps a sweeter version next, though, now that the revenge is complete?
@cazann Thanks so much for the great comments and fav, Caz!! Really appreciate that!
@taffy Maybe not the very end. We shall see. It seems like it will be hard to keep Red away forever. Thanks so much for your great comments and fav, my friend. I so appreciate you!
@squamloon You so called that, huh? How could it have been different, though. Really loved your comments, Jim...thanks so much for them and the fav. I'm lucky too, he willingly played along.
I really appreciate all of your fun comments on this wild shot. I was very unsure of the crazy processing, but I just felt like it had to be red and bloody and dark. Is this the end of Red? I don't know. I have a feeling she'll be back for more fun. Thanks again for your kind words!
You are a crazy woman. This is fantastic. I love the red. Totally don't think it's over the top...well, it's over the top but it works for this photo. Love love love it.
@jyokota Thanks so much, Junko. I had such fun thinking this up and acting it out, truth be told. The knife did make me a little nervous in that our bed is a select comfort air bed...that could have ended badly;-).
@edie Thanks....love your wonderful exuberant comment, Edie. We'd have such fun together!
@jsw0109 NOW I understand why Mary said Amanda might stab us and Jeff said that about wolf mask and boxer briefs! @m9f9l
I was like "I know this is a stupid Facebook conversation but wow!" Haha
@espyetta Aw, thanks, lady. SO fun to do. Glad you get it now. Maybe if you followed me it would be easier to keep up;-). So appreciate the fav and fun!!
Oh my, look what you've been up to while I've been away! LOVE the concept, the color, the attitude and the glint of your knife, Red Friend! Fav for sure.
@wendyhgill Thanks so so much for that, Wendy. How you been? I've been up to no good and trying to redeem myself since this shot. Oh but how much fun it was to think up and pull off. Appreciate your fav, lady!!
@adamj Thank you soooo much, my friend. I had a blast with these. Each was more fun than the next!
@sunshinephoto5 Thanks so much for your sweet fav, lady. I told hubby that you thought he was a good sport. He liked hearing that!:) He surely is.
@steampowered Oh I love that. I'll have to look for it. I love those kinds of things! Obviously:).
@stimuloog Thanks, lady!!
@gerry Thank you kindly!
@deniseescovino Michael is a good man. Thanks, lady!!! These were so fun to do.
