If this toy boat could think, it would surely be saying "Oh to be out of this window and out there on the water!" This window looks right out to the lake. The boat has a clear view of the lovely water, but is stuck behind a thick pane. Poor thing.
I see it regularly on my walks. I've even shot it before, but yesterday was compelled to go back and try again. I had passed it by and forced myself to turn around. I liked how it came out with the wintery branches. It has a forlorness to it, emphasizing the desires and yearnings of the little vessel.
Tomorrow, we celebrate Thanksgiving in America. And I am thinking about what makes me thankful. I'd say this year, I am most thankful for God, my precious family, the fact that I will be settled again soon, my sweet friends, laughter, music, photography and the beauty that is all around me that I am blessed to witness everyday. I am so thankful to be a member of this community of such talent.
So many neat shapes working together here: the square of the window, the triangles of the ship, and the curves of the branches. Very cool. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, friend!
A great shot.....love the branches and reflections and the emotion it invokes. Lovely thoughts.....you have so much to look forward to in the coming year. Glad you got this shot since it mean so much to you and you may not have that chance again!
This one got me to study it awhile. There is a monchromatic feeling in the squiggly reflection that doesn't match the muted earth tones of nearly everything else. I think that adds a bit of dynamic tension to an otherwise quiet photo.
What an amazing photo, Amanda. I love to dream to. What would life be without dreams. You write so well and one of your best photos. FAV Happy Thanksgiving my friend.
Oh I can just picture this sailboat longing for the sea. Those reflection really make this shot come alive, just think how great it was if there would have been a reflection of the sea, it would have emphazised the feeling of longing for this small boat
@gailmmeek I read a storybook awhile back to my daughter about a wistful toy boat that wanted to be free of his sting (attached to the boy). Well he go his wish and then he missed his boy. That made me think of personifying the boat. Thanks so much, Gail!!
Happy pre turkey day
@vickisfotos Thanks so much for that, Vicki. Life is good!! Appreciate the fav.
@darsphotos Oh, Darlene...you are so kind to me. I needed that tonight. Thank you!!
