So this week at Mad Hatters we are portraying the latest character in a book we read. I had a hard time picking so I picked two. Here was my Mad Hatters pick: @madhatters
And here I am channeling my inner drill sergeant to portray The Great Santini, or Col. Bull Meecham in Pat Conroy's book, The Great Santini. It is a book based on his own life story and life with a father who was a US Marine fighter pilot, who was feared by his wife and kids, a chauvinistic pig, but somehow strangely endearing and funny. I'm really enjoying this read and looking forward to seeing how it ends.
you look like that crazy woman at the square in downtown toronto. heck, remind me never to piss you when we meet! awesome depiction, kiddo. you the man! no, the woman! as you were!
@summerfield NEVER. PISS. ME. OFF;-). Lucky for my kids, they rarely see this face. Oh boy. Yeah, this guy was a nut! Can't imagine having a parent like this!
@amandal - i could. my father was practically raised by an american soldier (husband of aunt who raised him) and from making the bed in the morning to eating, i later on learned that's how the soldiers are treated in the barracks. you'd think he was an actual soldier but that was just how he was raised and that's the only way he knew how to raise us. but, no, i shan't piss you off, ever!!!! :-)
@amandal Ah. You're like that. Never visit my house...nothing is where it should be, nothing is perfect (except for me of course) and we run in what can only be called a "random manner". It would drive you insane ;)
@vignouse My dad was a Marine...though much much nicer and less full of crazy than this. I watched lots of war movies and shows with him, though. It's fun to act this character out. Luckily I didn't burst blood vessels in my eye this time!
bahaaaaa! you're really getting into this, aren't you! i haven't the foggiest idea what i will do for my shot... i read the most appalling schlock and rarely bother to finish anything...
Brilliant! Not the kind of books that I would normally read but intrigued now! Sorry been MIA bad cold and headaches so rested for a change, now must think of my Madhatters shot!!
Yeah...you captured him pretty well. I was an Army brat and enjoyed some of the scene in the movie...for instance the traveling in the car across country. Sometiimes I think I was raised in the back seat of a car...fighting with my brothers and sisters ...drawing imaginary lines that would NOT be crossed. 5 kids and 2 adults traveling in a stations wagon fille dot the brim inside and out wih luggage and stuff. Great memories though.
hahaha, well done amanda
@redpants I'd whip you right into shape;-).
@bill_fe At ease, and get me a beer! Funny!
