I thought long and hard whether to upload this photo, but decided as this project is equally about recording a year in my life - and not just about pretty photos - I thought I should.
I got into work this morning and was told to get round to one of our blocks where there had been a fire. I arrived to find the place completedly gutted. Loads of police and fire investigation officers were around.
Turns out two occupants died - someone has already been charged with murder.
I think you can guess what is covered by the white blanket on the upper floor.! A sad scene....
The rumour is the younger of two who died was a known trouble maker with quite a bit of history!!!
What is incredible, is the state of the property next door... no damage at all... Also had to deal with callous neighbours only interested in when the gas/electric/water will be switched back on as they wanted to cook dinner!!! Should think themselves lucky the fire didn't spread..!
As for other news.... I bit into a sandwich for lunch and broke one of my teeth!!! Ouch... Will have to sort out an emergency dentist tomorrow - a little busy today..
I'd also like to thank everyone for all the great comments of yesterday's pic :-)... cheers guys, and yep, bet you can guess my new screen saver (well, on my home PC anyhow)..
wow Andy, that is intense. surprised that you were able to get so much info about the scene and even those neighbors. why do people only think of themselves. this would have rocked my world for weeks if i lived next door. I think you have a number of 365ers who would like a copy of your screen saver :) sorry about your tooth, wish you lived here and my husband would have a look at it.
good photojournalism, and it is sad that this happened and sadder that it happens so often, people are so indifferent to it. Dont leave the tooth to long to get fixed.
Photojournalism is every bit as important as the flower although rarely as pretty. A sad state of affairs, but a provocative capture. Take care of that tooth!
thanks guys.. thankfully there's no pain (yet) but hope I can get to a dentist tomorrow... @robinwarner thanks robin, this sort of thing happens occasionly at work - fires, not murders I should add...
Will probably get inside tomorrow... Hope your hubby would offer a discount to a fellow 365er :-)
nice shot, i like the composition - sometimes sad stories are the best to tell - it's good to evoke all kinds of emotion through photography. sorry to hear about this tragedy - you paid them tribute wonderfully!
@artistmichelle it was a pret all day breakfast sarnie....!! Still scoffed it tho... @sarahbeebe thanks sarah, that's so true, I think photography shows the sad stories so well
Not offeneded al all and I think photography should be about life, the good and the bad, the beautiful and the ugly. This is a suberb photo and the contrast of the untouched building makes it all the more intese. Think I would have to hit those neighbors over the head, I mean really!!
And, I hope you get your tooth sorted. That sounds very painful!!
And sorry about your tooth!
Will probably get inside tomorrow... Hope your hubby would offer a discount to a fellow 365er :-)
What on earth do you have in your sarnies?
@sarahbeebe thanks sarah, that's so true, I think photography shows the sad stories so well
