I drove into work today, sometime I only do about half a dozen times a year, mainly because I can't stand spending 2 or 3 hours sat in traffic going no where fast, but it did give me the opportunity to stop off somewhere different this evening for a photo.
I took this from the top of the bridge crossing the Royal Docks near the Excel Centre in Beckton looking West towards Canary Wharf. Behind me, about 2 miles away, is the London City airport. Here's a pic I took of the bridge last May http://365project.org/andycoleborn/365/2010-05-20
Planes land about every 10 minutes so I knew I wouldn't have to wait long. Am quite pleased with today's snap...
Of course, 20 minutes later and once back on the road, I noticed the sky looked even better....
thanks guys for your great comments and favs, was a nice surprise signing in and seeing this on the home screen :-) @phil_howcroft cheers phil... still use the nikon daily (well, almost daily... :-)..)
Love this, I used to live opp ExCeL on the south of the dock, got to see this view everyday, beautiful, I might have to FAV so I can view it all the time! PS @electricwriter still lived here so I've tagged him so he can see it!
@charli321 Thanks Charli... I lived at Galleons Reach for about 3 years so became pretty use to the sound of the planes, but stopping back the other night reminded me just how loud they were..
I have to fav this.
As a bit of a semi-serious aviation photographer in a former life it's always good to see a big steel bird in a shot.
@phil_howcroft cheers phil... still use the nikon daily (well, almost daily... :-)..)
