The Olympics are less than one month away and last night the Olympic Rings were unveiled on Tower Bridge... And as they cost an amazing £300,000 I thought I'd get myself down there this evening to get a shot.
Yep that's right... £300,000 for five 20 foot steel coloured circles.!!
Well ok, £250,000 for the rings... £50,000 to install them...
Rip off anyone...????
And on other news.. Italy beat Germany 2-1 this evening in the Euro semi-finals. That's both sides of my family beaten by the flippin Azzurri within a week.!
Errm - that's a heck of a lot of money - nice shot though. I left the match when it was still 2-0 at 80-odd minutes, Germany whipped one in then at the last minute looks like.
Great shot! I walked this bridge more than 20 years ago, :-)
I'm glad that there are now the Olympic Games to look forward to, 'cause the EURO 2012 has just ended for Germany; I'm very sad!
I was waiting for someone to take this!! Iconic image over the games they reckon - I suppose it should bloody be for that amount of dosh! Cracking photo of it, like the muted tones.
Can you believe the cost of this?? It's astounding and shocking! I could imagine there are people (or organizations) that would benefit from half of the funds spent on the Olympic Rings! Don't get me wrong, thank you good people for hosting the games... but the pricetag that goes with this honor is amazing! Great shot. Clear and beautiful. You have a lovely city.
bootiful bridge 'n ring shot... prolly someone should start an olympic thread 'cos everyone in london seems to have pics of something olympic related these days :)
Nice lighting this time of day for this shot. Great capture. I always think cities spend way too much during the Olympics with advertising. You got a great shot out of though!!!
That is TOO much $$$$. I am from Atlanta GA and I certainly recall all the Olympic fervor! Crazy and over the top, but also something that brings the city together.
