This very Islamic symbol is the city crest of Portsmouth and club badge...
It was awarded to the city of Portsmouth by Richard the Lionheart in 1194 afer capturing it from the Byzantine Emperor's standard of Governor Isaac Komnenos, after capturing Cyprus during one of the crusades to recapture Jerusalem.
Time to put away my retro Pompey top for another season...
Nothing wrong with retro shirts, I am sure parents throughout the country would welcome a move where the increasing age of a shirt was more an indicator of allegiance to a club than having the latest strip. But the marketing men would never permit it.
I saw Reading play Pompey last year. I've never heard such a vocal bunch, literally you could hear them a mile way from the staduim.. As you know Andy I say Pompey play many games under Alan Ball when I lived there and they're very much my Mothers team and special to me to. Good luck for next year mate. A fav for my mum
