Had a call from one of my two credit card companies today asking if I was attempting to make a purchase in a jewellry shop..
Clearly not as I was in work...
Turns out that at the beginning of the month, both card companies received calls asking for a replacement card.. one was also asked for a new pin number to be sent... the other company said my pin numbers were accessed from my PC.
The replacement cards were intecepted before being delivered..
On one card two attempted purchases totalling £15,000 were made but declined... BUT that company never called me to check things..
On the other card (the one saying my passwords were accessed) two payments totalling £6,500 were made..
I've reported this to the Police, but they aren't interested and have left it to the credit card company to investiagate.... The credit card company say I might be liable.!!!
Flipping heck!! That's appalling. I got caught out by a scam website (the bank called, asked if I was making a payment on a Chinese website, I said 'no, it's supposed to be American - must be fraud' and they said, 'oh we'll we'll pay it then...) . Anyway I got a crime number from some fraud dept of the Met, reported it it trading standards and posted a big wad of paperwork and that helped a lot in getting the bank to pay up.
In French we say "merde" !
My brother had just the same bad thing : his card has been used to pay a total equipment in Apple.... While he was in a plane !!!
I really hope you won't loose money, it's so unfair !
Wow! So sorry to hear...I hope it works out for you. The shot feels "angry" though...so if that's what you were shooting for, you have been successful! Silver lining? :)
Awesome picture, if you must have a credit card I suggest Discover, they rock! We have similar issues and they are always calming, helpful and we have never been held liable.
That is a lot of money, and a lot of headache! I like the defeated card pile shot... it seems to be too common that people want to try to make a living from taking from others. :(
That is so bad, and I am so sorry it happened to you Andy I ( think) I heard on a radio show that once you can more or less prove you were, say in work you dont have to pay, because then it is clearly fraud,I hope it works out for you.
crikey - that's crazy... here my experience is that you get called if there's a question and they put a hold on your card... it's happened to me a couple times but i've never been made liable... never... that's insane... really hope they get things sorted for you
Still, at least my replacement card was delivered to my work address today.... To a colleague!!! Who thankfully was trustworthy enought not to run off and book a holiday....
