Every ride of a 100 miles starts with one pedal stoke, and rain
Well I did it, my first 100 mile ride!
Four rides went out: the 100k ride, the ironically named easy 100 (the hardest one), the faster group and the slower group. I went with the slower group and for the first fifty miles felt we were going too slow, but I benefited from the steady pace at the start once I was past 80 miles.
It started cool then the rain started; so glad Beth persuaded me to take my rain jacket. The rain probably lasted an hour, and rerturned for a few short bursts later in the day, but the day was dominated by the heat.
It was a long slog but there was great camaraderie and we all felt a great sense of achievement. Time to rest.
