Launching the music

We had an amazing evening at Jodrell Bank Observatory. The Halle played an open air concert of space related music (Star Wars, ET, some of the Planet Suite) with fireworks and images projected onto the huge observatory dish that is such a landmark on the skyline around here. This is images of the launch of the heroic Apollo 13 mission with the inspiring music from the film.

This concert was being performed on what would have been the 100th birthday of Sir Bernard Lovell who was the director of the Jodrell Bank Observatory and who died just a year ago.

Wow what a brilliant concert this must have been. We used to go to the Halle in Manchester when we were kids. My uncle played the bassoon with the Halle many many years ago in the 1940's.
