This is a church boat brought to Helsinki from Rautalampi in Savo. You can see Kiasma - The Museum for Modern Art - on the left and Parliament House on the right. Hundreds of years ago the Finns used this kind of wooden rowing boats for going to church. The church was often on an island for the sake of safety. This boat can take 14 rowers and 26 passengers. Nowadays these boat are used for rowing competitions and turism.
