Mandarin Duck II (captive) by annepann

Mandarin Duck II (captive)

The bird sanctuary I go to frequently does not have many captive ducks, but this Mandarin Duck there was recently found by the Michigan DNR (the state agency that manages wildlife) while they were banding Wood Ducks. They could not release it since it is not native to North America, so they pinioned it and took it to the sanctuary to live in their ponds. It must have escaped from a private collection.
my, oh, my, oh, my...we need to be able to give more than one star. Fabulous!

@milaniet It's straight out of the camera except for some cropping. It was in a fairly small pond, late afternoon and cloudy. Not sure why the water was doing that, but I like it, too!
