They usually freeze when I encounter them, which makes the photo taking pretty easy. Sometimes I think they scare me as much as I scare them when we have a sudden encounter, because they are pretty large and are almost always in groups of 3 or 4.
Wow, awesome capture. My encounter today didn't play out as well. Had a fawn scare the heck out of me when it took off from the bushes. Obviously, no time to put the camera up. Guess it's a good thing, since I didn't have the VR button on.
@rickster549 I know exactly what you mean. They are so quiet and sometimes explode out the bushes trying to get away from you and scare you half to death. Or they freeze like these did and stare you down.
