Monarch Caterpillars on Swamp Milkweed by annepann

Monarch Caterpillars on Swamp Milkweed

Was so happy to find these caterpillars. I knelt down in the grass to get their photo. 12 hours later the chigger bites broke out (about 70 of them) on my legs and abdomen and I had the most intense and uncomfortable itching of my life for 48 hours. From now on, I'll wear only long pants and use bug spray when out "naturing."
Oh, Anne, I am so sorry that happened to you...This shot is brilliant & so clear, the flowers are so lovely too.

Well that sounds awful! A good reminder to all of us. Great shot! It's so good to see the Monarch caterpillars! I haven't seen any of the butterflies this year. Very sad!

Which to say first?? Feel awful for you (and think how easily that could have been me - but not with monarchs - none around - but I'm forever on the ground for a shot) - glad it's improving. But your shot is fabulous! The focus, pov, colors - gorgeous! Fav

Great capture. Gotten into a few of the bugs, but nothing like what you got into. The itch is horrible. Couldn't imagine that many at once. Hope it gets better real soon.

So sorry about the chiggers, They are the worst. I love this image that you got, though, with these caterpillars feeding.
