Took my new camera out for a second time. With 5 focus modes and six or so choices for focus areas, I was working on what focus settings would be best for bird photos.
Love this - super focusing whichever you chose. I may ask to pick your brains on suggestions - this camera is looking awfully interesting! Going to look at it Wednesday. The narrow range of aperture settings don't seem to be a problem getting details. Fav
@milaniet So far, I think this camera is going to do what I want it to, which is to take tack sharp, detailed bird photos. I loved my 50X Sony HX400, and this only has 25x, but I am willing to give up some length for better image quality. I don't want a heavy rig, because I have binoculars to carry, too. The RX10 Mark 3 is still available for $400 cheaper than the Mark 4, but it doesn't have touch screen focusing (which is amazing) and the continuous shooting is slower (have not tried). You should definitely look at this camera. Price is high, but a good 600mm lens with a body would cost more, and it is considered the best available high zoom fixed lens camera on the market. Let me know what you think! If you buy it, order the book about the camera asap (on Amazon) - it is excellent.
@annepann Thanks, Anne for the background - will let you know after Wednesday (the local camera shot in Ft. Smith "says" they have it - will see if they're telling the truth.) And thanks for telling me about the book - will be a definite need - haven't shot Sony in quite a few years.
One more question - Is the book you're talking about "Photography Guide to the Sony DSC RX10IV: Getting the Most from Sony's Advanced Digital Camera"? And any recommendations on the OpTech Sling strap - see they show quite a few?
