Last Tree Standing, About to Fall by annepann

Last Tree Standing, About to Fall

This year the beavers have been knocking down all the trees on a spit of land where I like to bird. This tree was always popular with birds, so I am sad to see it go. I admire an animal that can fell a large tree with its teeth in the dark, but I wish they would leave this one tree standing. It will be down the next time I visit there.
Oh boy, they really have girdled that one. It will come down soon for sure.

It's too bad they clear cut some areas. Great pic that tells a story.

Great shot. Wow, that is amazing that they have gnawed around the tree like that. So sad that it will be down. And will they even use it for part of the dam.

Goodness, they have been busy, haven't they? Yes, a shame to see ALL the trees getting felled. You'd think they could repurpose their older logs somehow!

Wow, it is quite something the way they can do that! Any idea how long it takes them to go through the trunk?

wow, he did a great job, it almost looks like a sculpture, but it is a pity that it will fall...

@mccarth1 I think just a week or so. Not sure how many work on it...probably several. Since they are mainly nocturnal, it's hard to see them work.
