Toadshade (Trillium sessile)

This was the other red trillium I was hunting. The sepals don't drop down like Prairie Trillium and the leaves are sessile, or without stems. Some Wild Blue Phlox and Wood Anemone thrown in for good measure. The spring wildflowers cover about every inch of ground at this preserve.
They’re so delicate looking! It must be incredibly beautiful to see the preserve filled with all these flowers!
