Honeysuckle Berries by arkensiel

Honeysuckle Berries

A trip into Bishop’s Stortford today for my husband’s car to have its MOT. We took both cars so that if there were any problems, we could get home again more easily than relying on the train; fortunately there were no problems.

We also had an appointment with our bank to re-insure our house and contents. However, once all the details were input, into their system, it would not give us a quotation; it seems to think we are in an area liable to flooding. This house has been here for about 200 years and there is no evidence of the house flooding although our lower orchard does flood sometimes in the winter. The house is on much higher ground than that which does flood. It seems that because a lot of homes in the UK were flooded in 2013 and 2014, causing insurance companies many billions that in December 2014, the Law Society has given guidance regarding buying, selling and reinsuring properties. We (and probably many other people) need a ‘Residential Flood Report’; I have spent much of the afternoon trying to find out how I get one. I now have to wait for Essex County Council to come back to me.

I was surprised that many of the trees along the route to Bishop’s Stortford had leaves, which were turning brown; surely Autumn is not here yet. Today’s blip, of berries, also makes me think that Summer has disappeared. Today it was warm when the sun was shinning, but quite cool when it went behind the clouds; we have also had some rain showers.
