red rock crossing by blueberry1222

red rock crossing

This is touted as the most photographed spot in arizona. Rock Rock Crossing, Sedona. Most photographs up the saturation and the rocks come out looking blazing red, but I kept my photo as is because this is how the landscape actually looked with the sun not really in the best spot for photos.
Majestic landscape shot!

beautiful. I like it better this way, most of the time the red rocks are over-saturated!

What a great location, you've done it justice and I'm glad you didn't go mad with the saturation levels.

Breathtaking location. Wonderful to see.

Nice capture, I suspect you need to be there at golden hour to get the rocks as you describe.

It is always a treat to see locals see. It is as treasurable as the medieval church you admired .

Great shot, Sedona is one place I have on my list to visit

I totally agree with keeping the colour natural. That is one of the reason I stopped my subscription to Arizona Highways, too much red shift in the photos. The other was an article about Phantom Ranch and its swimming pool, which they didn't mention had been filled in years before.

@byrdlip I agree, AZ Hwys mag does not present the most 'authentic' images, too idealized. And their stories are not always the most accurate either by the sound of it!

Most of my photos of the area actually have toned down saturation because the unedited version usually looks fake... especially at sunset.
