Taking a photo of the famous Japanese maple tree at the Japanese Gardens in Portland, Oregon has been on my photography bucket list for awhile. Before I booked my flight to Portland, I researched nearly every photograph of this tree on the internet and looked at all the dates that this tree was in color. The dates ranged from the second week of October all the way into November. I averaged the dates and took a gamble to be there on Oct 23. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect tree or a more perfect day. I got supremely lucky.
This is beautiful. Your research has definitely paid off here. The colors, the shops of the tree and the light cooking through those beautifully colored leaves works perfectly. Easy Fav 😊
This is certainly that tree. Your seasonal timing was spot-on. Such colors. I'll be in Portland in December, so I'll have to settle for stark rather than vivid. Thank you for sharing your shot. I'll remember it.
@skipt07 Me either. My husband walked right past it, but I could see by the branches that this was that tree. One crouches underneath it and shoots upward. The tree is small enough that all the branches fill the space in a wide angle lens.
This is beautiful. I live an hour away and never made it up there this past fall but it's on my bucket list this next time. Glad you were able to photograph something on your bucket list 😁
@alophoto I wish that were possible. I live 1,000 miles away from this tree! I think @irisn is a Portland, OR gal and she posts pics of this tree sometimes.
