Hoover Dam by blueberry1222

Hoover Dam

Water is life, especially in the desert. Water levels have dropped significantly in the past few years. The white bands on the rocks indicate how full the dam lake used to be.

Quite a shot of the dam. I worry each winter that doesn't get the usual snow because know they need the melt at the dam.

I love visiting and photographing the Hoover Dam. Though I didn't get any from this angle. Was this taken from the modern bridge across from the dam? Anyway, this is a lovely shot. Great composition and saturation of colors. A real Fav. Great job.

@mbrutus yes, photo taken from the new bridge. I was just as excited to see the bridge as I was to see the dam!

Oh, this is a cool capture. When was the bridge built? I have been to Hoover Dam, but don't remember the bridge.

Love the mountain against the blue water

Wow

@jamibann The bridge opened in 2010 and took a long time to build. Major traffic no longer drives over the dam itself now. The bridge itself is pretty incredible. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_O%27Callaghan%E2%80%93Pat_Tillman_Memorial_Bridge
