Splendid China

In 2009, we traveled to Orlando, Fl. I bought an old guidebook about Florida attractions, and one of the parks advertised in the book was a theme park called 'Splendid China'. It was modeled after a similar park in China where they recreate all sorts of China attractions in miniature and they offer entertainment with Chinese acrobats. Sounded unique so we googled it to get directions. We discovered that it wasn't on the map. My guidebook was dated 1998 and we learned that the park closed in 2003. 'But it's still probably there' I deduced. So we found where it was 'supposed' to be on the map and snuck in. Local neighborhood kids were using the place as a huge abandoned stake board park and vandalized the place to smithereens. This is a photo of Ryan participating in the monumental task of piecing this display back together. He didn't get very far.
I read recently that the park got completely bulldozed and will become...what else....condos.
