These all three are just so awesome! I was just going through my gargoyle pictures from Notre Dame, and the texture of those stroke me as so familiar after looking at my own pictures. Love the editing here, it really brings out the roughness of the stone, the incredible carving skills, and the "age signs" on the figures, like little pieces of lichen. Beautiful!
What I find amazing is that Peter Bruegel or Hyeronimus Bosch painted grotesques that anybody could see at eye-level. While the gargoyles sculptors knew their work would be up there, near the clouds...
