Among the Hungarian steam locomotives, the 424 series was the most successful. From 1920 to 1958, a total of 514 units were produced, of which 149 were ordered by foreign countries, mainly for war compensation. Nowadays, only 2 locomotives are functional and operate on nostalgia programs.
