shoe tree by bruni
on our way to my son and family living in bobgaygeon we pass this "shoe tree". the location is between port bolster and beaverton, ontario canada. this area used to be cottage country. and the people on their way to their cottages or boaters travelling to the trent cancal system were passing this tree. we eleve the story went like this. at the opening of the cottage season people were buying a new pair of sneaskers and at the end of the season on their way home passing this tree they discard the worn out shoes by hanging them into this tree. by now it is so full of shoes that another tree was started on the opposite site of the road. it sure is a site to see.

It must be a Canadian thing.
We frequently see ( especially near school zones ) shoes flung up and swinging from, power lines.
There are currently about 7 pair hanging from the lines by my bank ( which just so happens to be across he street from a high school).
There's a shoeless, homeless man who lives in the school park during the warm months of the year, and I often wonder what he thinks of all of the shoes on the lines. Mind you, I know many locals have offered him shoes and clothing, and he refuses. Hmm...perhaps it's HE who flings the shoes up there!
Anyway...really interesting picture!
Thanks, Bruni! :-)

Hi Barb thank you for your comment yes i guess it is a canadian thing as you said becuse we see quite a few of those trees when we travel north (which of course is still a bit of cottage country and as you mentioned shoes on power lines. you are right we have seen those too.interesting how something like that gets started.
and to that homeless man. in general they are so proud and often decline help. we have quite a few living on the streets in toronto. so sad.
