On March 14 our port of call was the beautiful island of Bonaire. as we took a tour of the island the last we were there we just spent time walking around town. from across the street we saw a small house that had stuffed figures- one on a motorcycle - in front and at that exact moment a truck drove up and parked right in front of it obstructing our view. we walked across and noticed a sign inviting us in to visit. except for the 2 pictures of the church all the rest were taken there as we saw many more displays around the house, the backyard and inside her house as well. in the backyard she kept a few flamingos which were not fenced in. it was explained to us that she was the only one licensed to keep these birds - after they were abandoned and due to an injury and couldn't fly anymore - when a law was passed that people were no longer allowed to keep them as pets and because they couldn't fly there was no need of fencing them in. had this truck not pulled up we might have just looked and kept on walking missing all these photo opportunities.
