Not as pretty as a flower, infact it looks disgusting..found these insects on a few of my bushes...they are hard to get rid off as everytime we spray them it rains. so we're doing it over and over again. .hopefully we can save the bushes..they are in my sand cherry bush and in two of my firebush trees. the picture shows the small black spots (aphids) and a caterpillar I guess eating them.
there is also a relationship between the aphids and the ants..the ants suck out the honey collected from the aphids. for more information you can google aphids and ants.
@omabluebird The aphids are the tiny black spots what you see on top is a very small caterpiller. they say that aphids and ants have a relationship where the ants suck the honey from the aphids behind.
@msk1p2 thank you commenting..way too late for waiting for the ladybug..unfortunately have so few here. one of my trees will have to be chopped down to the ground..its just too infested...
I did found ( and pic ) some of them in my bushes, Now I know what they are doing there. I always leave them alone. When there are too many , birds know what to do with it.
@pyrrhula There were so many that we had to really trim the tree to half its size and hopefully it will come back next year with some new growth.Thanks for your comment my friend.
