Ice fishing

.....the bay is frozen and some brave guys have put there fish huts out.. yesterday there were about 10 huts out there but I only had my small pocket camera with me...so today I went out again with our canon to bring the picture much closer.. here you see the opposite site of the bay but this morning there were not too many people there and it seems the more of the lake freezes over the further they go out.
That's what I call a love for fishing.

My grandpa is in his 80's and still goes ice fishing. He lives WAY up north in Michigan.

is the ice that thick then ? And if you put a shed up, does that mean that is your spot until it melts ??

@sharonaddison yes these sheds are called ice huts..they require registration and the permit number has to be attached to the hut. these huts have usually to be removed by March 15th or they get fined. most ice huts have one or two a benches, with a skill saw they cut a big hole into the ice for fishing. they often bring a heater to keep warm. bring their fishing gear and not to forget the beer and have a great time. now I wouln't go into a hut as I'm afraid of the whole in the ice and also I'm claustrophobic.

@theanamumdiary You might like to read my reply to Sharon where I wrote: these sheds are called ice huts..they require registration and the permit number has to be attached to the hut. these huts usually have to be removed by March 15th or they get fined. most ice huts have one or two a benches inside, with a skill saw they cut a large hole into the ice, some bring a heater so they can keep warm inside. they bring their fishing gear and not to forget the beer and have a great time. now I wouln't go into a hut as I'm afraid of the whole in the ice and also I'm claustrophobic.
