After some grey and dreary days, even the snow is starting to look dirty, I was looking for something colorful to take pictures of. the idea of making a collage and sharing some of our birds appealed to me..so here they are:
top row: blue jay, robin, rose-breasted grosbeak, sparrows. next row: another blue jay, yellow finch and a hawk. the one with the yellow breast and head I unfortunately can't find the name of. he was here only the one time. last row: cardinal and another finch.
@foxinsox47 thanks to Jim we know now that the bird I couldn't identify is a canada warbler. thank you Jim.
A very fine collection of feathered friends :-D We know the robin and the goldfinch very well, but most of the rest aren't likely to show up in Southern California. BTW: I believe that the bird in the lower-right corner is a Canada Warbler: Wilsonia canadensis. I was reasonably sure it was a warbler when I first looked at it; after a few minutes, I was able to narrow it down. The white eye ring was a big help in Identifying it.
@foxinsox47 Thank you Jim for identifying this bird. wish he would come back again sometimes..he sat for the longest time in front of our sliding so I had lots of opportunities to take some pictures of him.
Great collage Bruni! I love birds too and it's fun to watch them at the feeder. With the exception of the Canadian Warbler, we have had all the same birds although the Grosbeak only comes occasionally. The Goldfinches and Cardinals are my favorites for color. Beautiful collection!

I'm so happy that my bird friends had so many views, comments and some favs. not all of these birds are here in the wintertime and in all my spare files I coundn't find a picture of a nuthatch or it was over processed, so he is missing and of course the hawk is not always around.
So glad it made the pp, Bruni. So sick through the night and day. Nausea, coughing, runny nose, sneezing, chest pain from coughing. Called my Dr for meds for mt cough and nausea as cough drops and tea with honey are not working. In bed typing this. Talk to you soon .
@darsphotos Does that sound like you caught the flu? did you get some antibiotic? this year's flu was the worse I ever heard of. hope you get some relief soon.
Bruni, yes, I got an antibiotic to take with dinner for seven days. It is one of the flu's going around though causes infection. My Dr just called in meds for nausea and the tickly cough, per my request. My son will pick those up after he gets off work around 8pm tonight. Lots of cough drops and tea with honey till then. My husband just took his cough syrup when he got home and cannot drive for three hours after taking it as it makes him a bit dizzy. Helps the cough a lot. So glad this is a three day weekend, Monday is Presidents Day. Take care.
We also have a three day weekend. Monday is Family day. some of the grocery stores are closed and of course no mail delivery and the banks and offices are closed. so Grace has a holiday Monday and maybe she and I will do something together.. you know she is my best friend and she feels the same way about me. i'm so lucky.

Even your sparrows look more colourful than ours in the UK!
