I have found the only thing that stops them is Vaseline. Not only is it too slippery for them, they do not like the smell of it either. However, their acrobatics are fun to watch.

Your photos are too cute. I once read an article about a guy who made an obstacle course for the squirrels. Every time he crafted a new "squirrel proof" invention, they got to it. Eventually he just kept adding challenges until his whole backyard was part of the game. Poor birds
