Will this ever end? this is one or thee one major road in Newmarket's shopping area. it's no pleasure driving down here, but I have to go there everytime I have an appointment at the my cardiologist or when I pick up special medication from the hospital's pharmacy. yesterday I had to return the heart monitoring device and on the way home again, I visited a few stores along the road. remember when I featured pictures of what this road is suppose to look like when it's all done. just don't know when that will be. it's a major undertaking widening the road to a four lane. It entails building or enlarging some bridges while traffic continues. don't know how some of the stores stay in business with limited public access.
@demelo Ann. thank your for the comment and no, I didn't find a message anywhere regarding your flower. I googled Star of Bethlehem and it's a very pretty flower. similar in look like the one I posted.
Oh what a nightmare, Bruni! I used to have to deal with congestion like that even when there wasn't construction but they renovated the roads and created a back road so people wanting to jump from one plaza to another could go behind the plaza and take a road under the highway to the backside of the other plaza. Now it's not congested. I hope that they finish the construction soon. I know it must be a nightmare. I'd go early in the AM or very late in the day or evening if you can to avoid this mess. Great shot of catching it. I bet there are a lot of angry drivers in those cars.
Thank you dear Bruni for you message and the fav.`s. So sorry to hear/read about you health condition. Hope it turns soon for the better. In the mean time, take good care of yourself. Don`t worry about comments. I stay and wait patiently.
@olivetreeann Ann, Hans and I came back from a walk at Fairy Lake which is close by and had lunch at Wimpey's. fast food place we don't visit that often. anyway, it is right at a corner of this road and Main Street. I talked to the waitress and asked if she can remember when this whole construction started. I google it and haven't been able to find out exactly. her answer was, years ago and the way they're going it might take another 5 years. now that let me into asking about the businesses along the stretch. she said, some have closed and many are suffering. their place, she says, has lost 25% of their customers and from what she knows the government helps out the landlords but not the vendors who lease the property.
Nice shot of how it is, Bruni but totally a crazy situation based on what you have said and the obvious in your photo. Too bad they cannot just get it done as they do here with inconvenience but timely and updating the public via our news. There is no excuse for this to go on and on at the cost of those on the road and those that have businesses. Too bad there is not help for those that rent the places only the landlords. Typical of the government so much of the time.
@bruni That's too bad about the vendors. You'd think since the gov. is helping out the landlords they'd pass that on to the vendors. Typical that they don't!
