On July 1, 1867 Canada became a self governing dominion of Great Britain and a federation of four provinces: Nova Scotia; New Brunswick; Ontario and Quebec. The anniversary of this date was called Dominion Day until 1982. Since 1983, July 1 has been officially known as Canada Day.
Not a long weekend this year, but in 1916 Canada Day will fall on a Friday.
@allie912 There are lots of places that haves pecial activities to visit, but the weather is so bad that you can't be outside. our little park here at the lake
@allie912 Allie most towns and villages have Canada Day festivities. we could go to Newmarket to Fairy Lake for instance, but it has been raining the last few days and was still raining this morning. we're waiting for the weather to change. our little park here at the lake has a BBQ this evening, stuff to do for the kids like face painting etc. fireworks or course.

Happy Canada Day, Bruni! Great shot! I love the information I learn on here. I like that you took it with the horizon in the background. Very nicely done! I am going to try and catch up on past photos but I don't know if I will be able to comment on them all but I will make sure to take time to get here daily from this point forward! Even if I am in agony. Since it's quarter past 1 here, I am going to hit the sack. Oh! I forgot to reply to your email but just FYI, the answer to your question is YES!! That works. I will write you back in the morning.
