New bird around - ID please

A few days ago, I saw this bird at the end of our driveway and followed him with the camera through the glass of our sliding door. I was afraid if I open both sets of doors to step onto the deck, he would hear or see me and fly away. never seen one like him here before. does anyone know what kind of bird he is?

@darsphotos Darlene, I was told it's a Northern FLicker. they feed on insects and beetles. I only know woodpeckers who are in trees.
