I borrowed this picture as it reminds me of my first sighting when I immigrated in 1955 arriving per ship. yes, it was the Statue of Liberty. since 1960 I live in Canada.
@gijsje No Bep. my sister immigrated first, and a few years later my younger brother. followed. two girlfriends of mine also came over. one moved from Canada a few years later to New Jersey and the one only lived 15 drive away from us but is now in a retirement home in Ottawa. Ontario

@dawnee@henrir Dawn and Henri. I googled for this picture. I used it because it reminded me of the years I lived in Chicago after my immigration. since 1960 I live in Canada.
@joemuli After I immigrated from Germany to Chicago, USA in 1955 living there for 5 years, I then immigrated to Canada where I still live today. just thought it would be nice to wish all my American friends a Happy 4th of July.
What a wonderful tribute. You have been in Canada for a long time. Had a nice day and spent some time with our son and his girlfriend. Fireworks were like a war zone, just horrible here for the first time ever. Lots of illegal stuff blowing up close to our house.
