Grace and I stood there and couldn't figure it out.
what you see is a safety device as we come around a corner, preventing people from falling down. (as I mentioned before in some of my pictures of this park with the many stairs, the terrain is up and down hill most of the time.)

Thank you my friends, the mystery isn't solved yet.
I was out all day with Grace (my daughter) and will make sure to comment on your pictures tomorrow. we were hiking for hours underneath the beautiful trees along the ravine up by the soccer field close to Edwards Garden in Toronto. I'm really done in now.
it was shady and very breezy underneath the trees, but once you get out and walk along the field to the car, it was brutal.
so next time, most likely on our outing, we might go back to Blythwood Park, the one with all the steps, and I will count them and also look if the ball is still there and how it might have gotten stuck there..
