Don't you just love it when you hear the pitter patter of your youngest son running down the stairs in the morning, bursting into the room and saying "Hi Dad, how are you?"... Followed very quickly buy, "Dad... do you fancy giving me a hand fitting my new chain and sprockets on my bike?" - Who could resist?
This was taken as I stood and pondered if I would ever get all these bit back on, but sure enough, two hours later, minus two knuckles and a thumb nail pulled back, it was done and he rode of into the sunset with a healthy cry of "Cheers Dad!"
OOh still grimacing over the thought of the pulled back thumb nail. Ugh. Love the shot and your interpretation of the phrase! An intriguing assortment of bits and bobs and surely its half the fun to have that moment of near-panic when you wonder if you will be able to re-assemble it all??!! Be boring if it was straight-forward and easy, now wouldn't it!?!!
My husband always says that the one thing he didn't miss when the boys left home was the bike maintenance. He reckons he spent several months of his life mending punctures when they were at school.
Mind you we have three grandsons now................
Haha! That's kids for you, ours take just the same approach when they're asking a favour - Hi Dad/Mum, how are you? .....
Great story and I love the pov of the shot, it really conveys how you were feeling. Nice one!
Love both the shot and the tale Graham. I've got four kids, all grown and still get to hear that long drawn out "Daaaaaad - I was just wonderin' if you wouldn't mind....." Still, as you say love 'em really :)
