Dec 27: Penn Church by bulldog

Dec 27: Penn Church

I have taken a shot of this little girl before, she sits and remembers the good times outside Penn Street Church.

You will also notice that the eight sided to tower has a Gargoyle on each corner. Please click the link below to see these detail of each one.

What a cool church Graham! How old is it?

Quite unusual to have an octagonal tower and spire, excellent shot especially with the little girl in the foreground.

@lynnb - The church was built 1849. The architect being Benjamin Ferrey. Patron is The Earl Howe whose ancestors have lived on the Penn Estate for generations and has close ties with the church.

@tishpics - I agree, the tower is a bit different Pat.

Pretty.

Interesting church, and a lovely day where you are. It's been another wet and dull day here so I haven't been out to take a church photo. Will just have to find some inspiration indoors.

Great shot. Lovely building. The gargoyles freak me out a bit, but gargoyles always do that to me.

These are the kind of shots I learn so much from because finding the right pov is so hard for me. This is just beautiful.

Thank you all for your lovely comments, this was strange because for once I knew exactly what shot I wanted, even before I got the the church.
I am not sure what the relevance of the girl is but I love the stone and took a better photo of her back in Jan (link below). I may have to pop back and read the inscription? http://365project.org/gphelps5/365/2012-01-07
