An English Canal

White feathers, pure and soft
Heron watches, one foot aloft
Next small meal sought.
A rapid blur, a minnow caught

To it's left, damp dark hole
Precious home, to the water vole
Far above the wading bird
A kite’s shrill call is heard

Water bank creatures all around
Amidst bright wild flowers abound
Animal, plant and majestic tree
Survive together in harmony

A visitor to this peaceful scene
The air so refreshingly clean
Heart rate down, pleasure up
From this serenity I hungrily sup

The city of the concrete cow
No more than mere memory now
Equally, my bleak office room
Long gone; as more vistas loom

My coloured boat gliding through
Water reflecting sky’s bright blue
Stress released, mind now pure
Surrounded by nature’s simple cure

Thank you all so much and sorry I have not had time to respond to you all individually.

I have to admit that working in next to a canal, I thought of the photo first and then found a poem to match. It took a while but this one gave me the warmest feeling.
