I have wanted to try this for ages, drilling a hole in the bottom of a beer bottle and then inserting a lit candle...
I have to say, I am quite pleased how it came out.

------------------------------------------------ If you are thinking of trying this:
------------------------------------------------
1. I used a diamond edged hole cutter (for glass), with the drill at a very slow speed and plenty of water on it. I then used the grinder to take off all the sharp edges (both pictured in the 'Making of' shot).
2. Please wear thick gloves, just in case the bottle shatters. Mine didn't but just some advice.
3. Although the candle is stuck to the tray with wax, the bottle is on two match sticks to alow a little air in from underneath, this allows more up-draft for the candle.
4. IT DOES NOT TAKE LONG FOR THE NECK OF THE BOTTLE TO GET VERY HOT. Please do not try and take the bottle off the candle to blow it out, just blow down the neck and leave it where is was until it has called down.
Please be careful and always ask a responsible adult for help.
Neat center piece and fits in to the garden perfectly. I bet everyone is running to their work bench to make one of their own. Well, at least starting on the beer!
It looks very pretty and I was just thinking about the pitfalls when I scrolled down and read your instructions. I think I'll stick to my nightlights! Nobody can accuse you of not being dedicated to your art!
