Spring is finally here - Bloody sods law - I only have a grey brolly and I was looking forward to seeing some more rain.
So once again, I got home from work, completely uninspired and realised that today was going to be one of those 'Loads of words cover a crap photo moments' (you know what I mean and you will probably read on)...
After wandering around the garden in the sun (with a grey brolly), I settled on the shot, as it captures the true beauty of 'Spring'.
Umbrella (From Wikipedia)
An umbrella or parasol (also called a brolly, parapluie, rainshade, sunshade, gamp, bumbershoot, or umbrolly) is a canopy designed to protect against rain or sunlight.
The word parasol usually refers to an item designed to protect from the sun; umbrella refers to a device more suited to protect from rain.
Oh well, have a look at this diagram - talk about stating the obvious!

Don't pray for rain otherwise I won't be able to get out with the camera! Nice POV of this one though. As it's spring, you ought to get one with flowers on it! LOL
Walking the garden with an Umbrella sounds far more manly than walking around with a parasol !! Your picture does give the impression of greyness and winter so you have done well in hidding the sunshine.
I like your umbrella shot. Great composition. And of course it should be grey if it's raining. I just want to know why we have umbrella as the word of the day on the one day this week when it's not raining.
Wow thank you all for you great comments, I did not think I would get any on this shot. It just goes to show that the 2/3s rule works (one thurd photo, two thirds text).

I like your uninspired brolly shot and I never knew they were called bumbershoots before. Wow- a month of brolly shots- now there's a unique challenge indeed!
