Robert Snooks (about 1761-1802) was the last man to be executed in England for highway robbery, on 11 March 1802.
The grave is in the field next to the Humbug Cows, just outside Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.
Poor old Snooks -- what a great distinction to be the last man executed for stagecoach robbery. Is he buried in the field because he was executed-- like suicides being buried at crossroads?
