Randalls of Uxbridge
"A good, traditional, family owned and run department store"

In 1891 Philip Albert Randall (PAR) and his brother William purchased “Carbutt’s” in Vine Street, Uxbridge (where I work) – a firm which they knew as one of the customers of their upholstery factory in Wycombe (where I live).

Built in 1938, the name was changed to “Randall’s Stores” in 1891 and it was classed as a Grade Two listed building on the 31st October 2008.

It's a fascinating building and reminds me of 'Grace Brothers' from the TV Sitcom Are You Being Served.
Sad to see the old places go out of business. Every local department store in this area is gone. All we have is Macy's, a NY based chain with stores all over the country -- gobbled up everything.

Great vintage looking building. Too bad it's closing!

Woah... Hang on, I don't think it is closing, they are just having a 25% off everything sale (I think).
I will pop back and check in a couple of weeks....

Here, signs like that always mean a store is closing. Glad that's not the case for Randall's!

A lovely building reminds me of a cinema. Pleased to hear it is listed too many old buildings get knocked down nowadays.

Great sale...get yourself down to that queue with your flask & butties! Nice Art Deco type building...they don't make shops like this any more!

It reminds me of a store in the town I grew up in. You could find pretty much anything there!
