Beacon Hill Toposcope by bulldog

Beacon Hill Toposcope

Although I am officially still on holiday this week, I did have to go to Birmingham for one meeting. When that was done I climbed Beacon Hill to take a look at the views.

Three things about Beacon Hill:
1. Although the Toposcope had yet to be built it is said that the views from this location inspired Tolkien’s vision of Mordor.

2. There is a local legend that the Devil and his accomplice, named Harry-ca-nab, used to be seen riding through the woods around the beacon mounted on snow white bulls.

3. It is a popular site for UFO spotters and ‘watchers’ have often spotted and photographed a triangular aircraft which was later nicknamed the Dudley Dorito.
Wow it looks a great spot with a wonderful view.
