Young Red Kite by bulldog

Young Red Kite

I love the dof in this shot and although the focus does appear to be on the lower branches.
At first I thought this was a young red kite but the head does not look white enough so it cold be some kind of hawk. If there are any tweeters out there who could confirm?

Another shot from this evening walk.
Impressive looking bird and a great capture. Fav!

This is a gorgeous shot - you really nailed it!
I think this may be either a red-tailed hawk or a broad-winged hawk. The colours match for both of them. Can't tell the size from the photo, or the back of their tails either.
But, I would say it is a hawk no matter what though.
We have a red-tailed hawk that follows the tractor around looking for mice every time we make hay. This is a shot I got of mine: http://365project.org/farmreporter/365/2016-06-01

Hi Wendy, I have just done an image search for broad-winged hawk and I think you may be right. Thank you.
