Admiral Seagull by calx

Admiral Seagull

Had a lovely day out with my parents for my Dad's birthday. We drove around North Devon stopping every so often for a look. Managed to take over 250 photos and had a few to choose from. This seagull at Appledore won. I have played about with my aperture priorities on my camera and managed to get the background to blur.

I really want a tripod now.
Constructive criticism always appreciated. Really pleased that I made the New Faces Page with yesterdays shot :) Happy Days
like how the bird is facing into the light and the shades of blue and grey mirror his tail feathers. nice photo.

Sharp focus of him emphasised by that soft background. Good capture, usually they fly off just when you are about to snap!

Love it - so much clearer than mine :)

Great shot. I like how the bird is not dead centre.

Yes I love the placement of the seagull also, esp that it's facing into the light. Beautiful colouring

nice, Calx. I like the placement, and also the way you've cropped the pic into the bottom right corner.
And NICE re yesterday's pic!

Lovely sharp herring gull. I like the background - blurred but nevertheless interesting, putting the subject into context.

Very nice shot. I like how you kept the detail in the whites without losing details in the shadows. Also like the framing with the boat in the background.
