Rowing Maven by careymartin

Rowing Maven

Not really, but I've been working hard on my form. This morning I finally cracked that elusive 100%. My hang up has always been the catch. After 12 hip and pelvis surgeries, getting the compression just right has been a challenge. Today was my day! WOOHOO!
that's a lot of surgeries! amazing result in light of this!

@koalagardens @Dawn @photographycrazy @pamalama thank you so much!

@olivetreeann thank you! I am not a rower at all, I just got the Row mid-November to add more fun to my workout and rehab mix. My last surgery was 9/6 so I was definitely deep into the latest recovery mode. My sport for many years has been ultrarunning (mountain running, distances greater than marathon, typically 50km to 100miles, also multi-day stage races) but during these last 5 years of surgeries and rehabs that was obviously out so I turned to competitive bodybuilding. (I'm a fan of making lemonade.) Now I'm at a point where I have been cleared to return to running and I'm faced with deciding to pursue running again or go pro with bodybuilding. Can you guess what I'm deciding?

@careymartin Well, an uneducated guess would be that the rowing machine helps with arm strength and power, so I'll say body building.

@olivetreeann I like your logic! I actually thought rowing would be good while my pelvis healed yet again, but it turns out that rowing is 60% leg push, 30% core, and just 10% arms. In any case, I need to give running a fair shot again since that was the goal in the first place. It is my passion. Bodybuilding came in only as a replacement when I couldn't run and would take that place again if running doesn't pan out. But, so far so good!

What a fancy erg! How does it know what your form looks like?? I hope the return to running goes well!

@kuva Thank you so much! This is a Peloton Row. It has sensors in the handle and seat so before your first row (and anytime you want to do it again) you calibrate it to your body. It also has a realtime Form Assist feature you can keep on during each session that coaches you but I find it distracting so I shut it. It also makes me a bit obsessive, No thanks!
