Swan Family Re-visited by carolmw

Swan Family Re-visited

! went to Abington Park yesterday to see how the widowed swan and her cygnets were getting on.This is a shot of her with one of her remaining four cygnets.Originally, she had five...she must have lost one,as I could only see four.
Previous shot of her is shown on May 23rd.
Wow they are so graceful to watch, love the water coming from the baby's beak as it drinks.

Another beautiful shot of this poor widowed swan. My heart breaks when I hear of any bird who mates for life losing his or her mate. She still looks beautiful and is a strong elegant lady ;-) Fav.

She is so pretty. Knowing she is on her own makes me think she is looking a little sad.

Lovely shot. Its nice to hear an update on how she is getting along. To loose only one is still impressive, so many predators view chicks as their version of fast food

Lovely shot. She might re-partner eventually, happened at one of my local parks, everyone very happy.

What a gorgeous photo, Carol. What happened to her mate? It is hard when we get attached to see things happen.
June 25th, 2012
@darsphotos .There are some high railings around part of the lake, some construction work going on.Her mate mustn't have seen them, and flew into them, and was killed.I suppose he must have broken his neck!

@carolmw How sad. I wish that nature could be as it was years ago but things do happen and some of the work has to get done. I followed a nest of Eagles last year and the Mom flew into a plane as it landed nearby. Not a great place to have huge trees, eagles and an airstrip that can kill the eagles and has in the past. But what can we do.

I love this photo Carol! Sad story though!
