This eagle owl is the largest and most powerful owl in Europe.It is about 27inches long.It has a large beak and huge talons,but it's most striking features,are it's striking orange eyes.It raises or lowers it's ear tufts,depending on it's mood.

This is stunning, reminds me of the botanical illustrations I saw at an exhibition last weekend (where I was appalled to learn that Audubon used to go out and kill his subjects,so that he could arrange them in poses for painting!)
