Spiky Tree by carolmw

Spiky Tree

Took this shot at Paphos Zoo.Please view large,if you have time,as I've never seen anything like it! I'm pretty sure it would deter any young lads from climbing it!If they did ,their trousers would be shredded!
Yikes! I believe I would pass on this one too! I have seen those flowers before...hmmmm i wounder what kind of a tree this is?

It's quite unusual to see the flowers before the leaves too. And is that a fruit I can see?

Carol,, Great picture. Nice of the blue sky to give that backdrop. Have seen many of these at the old Cypress Gardens but can't recall the name. My wife knows, I'm sure. I'll post when I find out.

That is the coolest tree! Those spikes are dangerous looking! I just googled it: Silk Floss Tree (Ceiba speciosa, formerly Chorisia speciosa) See info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceiba_speciosa

Unique tree! Isn't nature amazing? No way I'd believe it all happened as a result of a big bang!
